I’m from Wilcannia, New South Wales. My partner and I have a considerable interest in the goat industry; running a goat stud, depot and breeding enterprise along with meat sheep and cattle for the last 10 years. I have spent my whole life around goats and we are eager to see more meat breeds used on a commercial basis by finding the best cross that suits not only our country but also the meat market.

I have been a farmer for 44 years . Since I have been in livestock for the past 12 years. We have South African Dorpers as a stud breeder. It was a no brainer to include the South African Kalahari goat into our mix.
In doing this we have crossed the Kalahari with rangeland goats to see what they can do and it works very well.
I believe that this breed will do wonders for the outback and the farmers I have talked to agree. It is possible that the Kalahari and meat goat industry will become as big as the dorper sheep industry in the near future these two breeds run well together and can be a great success for farmers in harsh conditions.
The Kalahari can handle the tough outback conditions and the Rangeland Bucks.
